A formal assessment of Smartphone Battery Life could help Manufacturers access a niche market opportunity.

SmartViser, the recognised expert in Mobile Testing Automation solutions, is proud to take the opportunity of the Mobile World Congress must-be-there show to unveil viSerBatt, its latest realisation.

When the 4G technology came into the market, the performance of a battery phone was a touchstone that could not be overlooked as the 4G network consumes more battery in comparison to 3G and 2G. With the arrival of the 5G and considering today’s consumer extensive usage of the smartphone (streaming, gaming, app browsing, IoTs…), this still remains the case in 2019.

The result on smartphones is an increasingly demanding battery life as we expect our smartphones to last a full day without having to look for a power supply. Actually, this high level of requirement could be a nice opportunity for smartphone manufacturers that choose to focus on a long-lasting battery life device offer. All this means that knowing and benchmarking a smartphone battery life is still -and maybe even more than ever with high demanding 5G applications- key for OEMs and ODMs.

At SmartViser, we have developed viSerBatt to help our customers meet these challenges. We defined our application to be fully automated and to simply enable smartphone manufacturers to test battery life from an embedded customized test plan, according to user profiles and their usage (Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, Boomers, Professionals). We also added a reference mean Day of Use (DoU) usage.
